.22 Rifle Practice Begins

Practices for .22 Rifle will begin this Sunday, April 12.

Check-in for the first round will be at 10:45 a.m. and shooting will begin at 11:00. For the second round, check-in will be 11:45 a.m. and shooting will begin at 12:00 p.m. There is NOT a signup—practices are first-come, first-served.

Members shooting the first round will help to set up the range. Members shooting the second round will help to tear down the range. (Remember, this counts as community service for your record book!)

What to Expect and What to Bring

  • Practices are held on private property that is also a cattle pasture. It is available for scheduled 4-H practices only. There are no permanent restroom facilities, but a porta-potty is on site. Be aware, there is little to no cell phone service.

  • Wear fully-enclosed, closed-toe shoes.

  • Bring your equipment: your rifle, rifle case, eye protection, ear protection, ammunition, and a clear bore indicator. A kneeling roll, a shooting mat, binoculars, and a bullet board are also helpful. See the .22 Rifle page on the LC4HSS.org for more information about equipment.

  • If you don’t have your own equipment, we have equipment to borrow.

  • Also bring water, snacks, sunscreen, insect spray, a jacket, and a positive attitude.

  • At least one parent/guardian/responsible adult must attend with the 4-H member. Bring a chair, shade, and an activity.
