Outdoor Skills Informational Meeting / April 9 at 7:00 p.m.

We are happy to announce that the Outdoor Skills discipline is available for full participation for Larimer County Shooting Sports members this year.

If you are interested in learning more about Outdoor Skills and possibly adding this discipline, please attend the introductory meeting on Thursday, April 9 from 7:00–8:00 p.m. in the Estes Park Room at the McKee 4-H Building at The Ranch.

This project involves topics such as Wildlife ID, Wildlife Management, General Hunting Skills, Orienteering, and Map Reading.

The state and national competitions also include components for shooting Archery, .22 Rifle, and Shotgun. You are NOT required to be enrolled in each of these disciplines, but it is helpful to have more experience and practice.

Not Enrolled in the Archery, .22 Rifle, and Shotgun Disciplines?

Orientations for Archery and .22 Rifle have concluded for this year. New members cannot add those disciplines. However, if you’re a returning member for these disciplines, you can add them through May 1.

New members who wish to add Shotgun as a discipline can attend the New Member Orientation for Shotgun on March 31 or April 7 at 5:30 p.m. at Great Guns.

• To participate in shooting for Outdoor Skills, members must have attended the Safety Meeting on Zoom, and attend the required discipline practices for Outdoor Skills.

• To be eligible for the state invitational for Outdoor Skills, members must complete all discipline requirements for Outdoor Skills. More details to come.
